Glb Bitterfeld is a small permanent way depot/workshop, “somewhere in Germany”. It is equipped for light repairs, servicing & testing of DB Netz (Germany’s equivalent of NetworkRail) equipment, as well as “playing host” to visiting & “hired in” private operator and track maintenance companies rolling stock. Some items are only used at certain times of the year, but require test running as required.
Rolling stock includes; Working tampers, heavy lift crane, track maintenance and snow clearing vehicles, as well as other items of an infrastructure maintenance nature.
The layout is controlled by the NCE Powercab & Roco Multimaus systems, as well as utilising the Kadee magnetic uncoupling system.
Most items are “straight out of the box” and others are built from kits, with added details and light weathering.
I also show short film clips on a small DVD player and/or monitor to demonstrate some of the prototype machines at work and their functions in real life.
