To The Manor Burnt - Martin Nash

It should have been a peaceful day in this area of quiet countryside somewhere on the London/Surrey border, but the rural tranquillity has been shattered by a major fire at the Manor House. A probable electrical fault having caused the problem. Fire appliances from surrounding fire stations are attending the scene with the crews fighting the fire as water is pumped from the lake to supply their machines. The Squire and his wife have returned from a shopping trip in their chauffeur driven Bentley only to find their ancestral home in flames. The Butler is explaining the situation whilst a passing motorcyclist stops to observe the blaze.

The stable staff are removing the frightened horses from their stables and a tenant farmer is moving his cattle along the road to fresh pasture. The Estate Manager is an avid gardener judging by the flower beds and greenhouse in his cottage garden. In other areas life is going on as normal inspite of the major fire.

A friend gave me the model of the resin house knowing that I would make something of it. Over £200 later this 1:76 scale diorama is the result! The additional buildings are constructed from Metcalfe kits and the other scenic items are from various manufacturers. Oxford Diecast is the main supplier of the fire engines and related vehicles.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about this diorama and my modelling ideas and techniques. Also, see the adjacent board and its storyline.
